Roberto Henriquez
Roberto is father to a precocious toddler and the owner of a small business and law practice in Hamilton. As part of a young growing family, Roberto appreciates the challenges faced by young workers and new parents in Hamilton West Ancaster Dundas. As a labour and human rights lawyer, he continually fights for the rights of working and marginalized people in our community.
Roberto attended McMaster University, where he graduated with a degree in Genetics, a degree in Political Science, and worked briefly in cancer research. He later attended Osgoode Hall Law School at York University.
Roberto is Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors at a local Community Health Centre and a board member with the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre. He has volunteered with the YMCA’s Newcomer Professional Mentorship Program and regularly provides public legal education seminars to the Hamilton community on human rights and employment rights.
Roberto was called to the bar as a lawyer in 2014. Since becoming a lawyer, he has worked at one of Canada’s largest pension funds, at one of Canada’s largest private sector unions, and in municipal government. He regularly represents union members in labour arbitration, has acted in defence of tenants at risk of renovictions, and defends those whose who have experienced human rights violations.
Roberto is ready to fight for those who feel forgotten by governments past and present. He would be honoured to serve the people of Hamilton West—Ancaster—Dundas in Ottawa.
